I have been oh so quiet for a while. Have had plenty of messages asking me if all is well. Sometimes we have to lock in to make a change. Personally, I have been in my office like a mad scientist in her lab, smoking, bellowing, and lots of pops and bangs while I create.
I created Out of the Shadows in 2016 to have a voice for me….. and for others. I had no idea that it would take off the way it did or that my little blogs would create such a storm. I have trained hundreds of thousands of professionals across the UK since 2016, and delivered to thousands of parents and young people. Telling one story….the story of Blondy.
I can honestly say that doing this has changed practice across the UK in terms of exploitation and child protection. Blondy has done exactly what she set out to do…to make people listen.
But that is not enough. The story has been told a thousand times, and hundreds of emails from people telling me that they will make a change for the children and young people of the UK.
Yet…I see a hundred Blondys still being failed on a weekly basis.
So I went off into my lab to create….design….and work out what was needed.
I knew what needed to happen. And I knew I could not do it alone.
I have joined forces with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable individuals I could find, and we have developed training that not only creates change but also leaves a lasting legacy of practice informed by the survivor’s experience.
